Meet the Team
Friends since 2004, the two of us took different career paths but ultimately found parallel passions in physical rehabilitation care. We noticed the need for full family support during hospitalization, especially after a new diagnosis. Together we founded Coconut Moon to bring resources and awareness to the disability community.

Child Life Specialist, Recreation Therapist
Leah received her Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Child Life from Springfield College. She has nearly a decade of experience spanning across pediatric and adult patient care, in rehabilitation, oncology, and palliative care. In her work, Leah identified a need for resources that could guide families through supportive discussions about disability. Leah has set her sights on creating comprehensive resources, which has evolved into her long-standing dream: founding a company called Coconut Moon. Leah envisions Coconut Moon as a beacon of support, filling the gap in resources and offering families the tools they need to engage in open, educational, conversations about disability. Her dream reflects not only her professional dedication but a deeply personal commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician
Dr. Lauren is a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as a physiatrist. She completed her residency training at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/Harvard Medical School, with an additional focus on spinal cord injury. Dedicated to the holistic well-being of her patients, she extends her expertise to those grappling with new or chronic disabilities, encompassing spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and amputations. Dr. Lauren is passionate about not only restoring physical health but also guiding individuals back to the rhythm of their daily lives. During her training, she recognized a significant need—a lack of resources for patients to discuss their conditions with the younger members of their circles. This awareness has fueled her commitment to developing valuable resources for these essential conversations.
